Everything You Need to Know About Taking Your Credits With You
Maybe you’ve always had a “dream university.” Or maybe you’re keeping your options open. Either way, the associate degree credits you earn at Indian Hills go with you.
IHCC has transfer agreements with all three state universities and many regional private colleges that guarantee you’ll be admitted as a junior. If you’re looking at other schools, we’ll connect you with their counselors to make sure you’re on course.
Whenever you’re ready to go for your bachelor’s, so are we.
Transferring to a State University
Interested in studying for a bachelor’s degree at Iowa, Iowa State, or UNI? When you earn an Associate of Art or Associate of Science degree from Indian Hills, all of your IHCC credits will transfer, and you’ll be admitted as a junior.
Course Requirements
- Communications: 8 semester hours
- Humanities: 8 semester hours
- Math and Science: 8 semester hours
- Social Sciences: 8 semester hours
- Distributed electives: 8 semester hours taken from the above four divisions
- Communications: 8 semester hours
- Humanities and Social Sciences: 8 semester hours
- Math and Science: 20 semester hours (at least one course in each)
- Distributed electives: 4 semester hours taken from the above divisions
- To successfully transfer your IHCC degree to a state university, you must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 in all courses.
- If a foreign language is required for your bachelor’s program, you can complete this requirement at IHCC or at your transfer school.
Transferring to a Private College
If a smaller school is right for you, you can take your IHCC credits to any accredited college — and our agreements with many regional schools ensure an easy transition.

Transferring to Indian Hills Community College
Interested in transferring some previous college credits to a program at IHCC? We accept credits from other regionally accredited, post-secondary institutions. If you have relevant work credentials or training, you can turn those learning experiences into college credits as well.
