Qualifications for placement in ESL 1

Reading 56 and below Listening 49 and below (Level 1)

Cannot be in any non-ESL classes in ESL 1.

• Basic Academic ELL Grammar - ELL 020 ( 2 credits)
• Reading for ELL Learners - ELL 040 (3 credits)
• Communication for ELL Learners I -  ELL 060 (3 credits)

Qualifications for placement in ESL 2
(Pathway includes one academic course)

Reading 57-82 Listening 50-69 (Level 2)

• Advanced Academic ELL Grammar - ELL 030 (2 credits)
• Reading for Ell Learners II - ELL 050 (2 credits)
• Communication for ELL Learners II - ELL 070 (3 credits)
• Basic Academic Writing (Ottumwa) - ENG 022 (2 credits)

Qualification for Placement in Full Academic Courses

Reading 83+, Listening 70+ (Level 3)

• Advanced Skills Lab (Optional) - ELL 080 (1 credit)
