Indian Hills Connect 2 College program is a part of an emerging dynamic partnership between IHCC and area high schools. High school students are able to earn high school and college credit by enrolling in courses taught in their com­munity, on an Indian Hills campus, or online!

Let us help you with your FUTURE ready goals!

  • Get a head start on their college education
  • Earn both high school and college credit at the same time
  • Take courses at no cost to the students or their families


CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT
 provides opportunity for high school students to enroll part-time in college courses. Courses are offered through an agreement between IHCC and local school districts, and may be offered on either the IHCC campus or at the high school.

CAREER DISCOVERY ACADEMIES starting in the Fall of 2018,  give students an option of taking a college credit from over 20 different academic programs, at an IHCC Campus.

CAREER ACADEMIES programs bridge high school and community college career/technical education programs .  If the Concurrent Enrollment or Career Academy programs are of interest to you, contact your Guidance Counselor to see if you qualify and learn how to get started.

Eligibility
Requirements may include:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency determined by the Iowa Assessment for Arts & Science classes. Your Guidance Counselor at the High School can let you know if you qualify!

  2. Meet IHCC ‘s requirements for any placement scores/GPA or prerequisites for Health Science programs.

You are able to take 24 credits within 1 (one) academic school year.

Credits
As previously mentioned, you will earn both high school and college credit for courses taken through IHCC.  Your high school will determine how the credits you are taking transfer into your high school requirements.  With successful completion of courses, grades will reflect on your college and high school transcripts.

You’ve explored your options. You found the perfect program – or maybe a few perfect programs. You’re ready to sign up. 

  • If you have never taken a college class through IHCC, you can fill out the Connect 2 College application and click on CREATE MY ACCOUNT and follow the prompts.
  • If you have taken an IHCC class, you will use the Connect 2 College application, log in, and pick your classes.

CAREER ACADEMIES

Do you already know what your career or college goal is?  Career Academies are a collaborative effort between your local school district and Indian Hills Community College.  This opportunity gives you the chance to earn your degree at Indian Hills with only one additional year of study in one of the many career technical fields offered! Hang on to your seats, you’re in for a FUTURE ready ride! Here are just a few reasons why this is a great opportunity:

How does this work?

You can choose a college course in an area of interest, if you like it, you can continue in that area and complete 25-100% of that accredited program before even graduating high school!  If you don’t care for it, you can pick another class in a different area to explore!  What better way to try out a college course that may lead you to your future career!! 

These options are available to you while in high school, and are FREE!

Workplace Information:

  • 4 Sessions Available | 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. June 20-21, June 22-23, June 27-28, or June 29- 30
  • Begins at Indian Hills Community College. More information will be sent to participants.
  • Registration deadline: June 9, 2022 - Session I & II; June 16, 2022 - Session III & IV Minimum number to hold the workshop is 10, maximum is 20.
  • $60 per session which includes 1-recertification credit. Participants are eligible to earn up to 4 credits, by choosing the 4 unique sessions. Lunch & materials are included in the fee.
  • Register at www.gpaea.org under PD course catalog.
  • Masks will be provided, and closed-toe shoes and casual business attire is required.
  • Some tours/presentations may be virtual.

GEMS Information: 

Explore science, technology, math, and engineering, while having fun on a college campus! Girls will have the opportunity to explore college programming through a variety of hands-on activities. They meet with professional women working in the science, technology, engineering, and math fields, as well as create, explore, and discover through S.T.E.M. (Science Technology Engineering Math) projects!

High School Alternative Programs

Struggling in high school? Maybe you just need a different program to get back in the game. Earn credits toward your high school diploma, finish high school with independent classes, work toward a GED or try our fifth year/transition program.

  • Credit Recovery: Students in high school can earn credits toward their high school degrees by taking face-to-face courses through Indian Hills (funded by student's school district).
  • High School Completion: Students take correspondence courses through Indian Hills, earning credits toward their high school degrees.
  • Alternative Learning Program: Students ages 16-21 may receive assistance in the areas of math, writing, reading, social studies, and science, while working toward earning a GED (Certificate of General Educational Development).
  • Fifth Year or Transition Programs: Designed for high school students with mild to moderate learning disabilities who are seeking a vocational skill or degree.

If you’re between 16 and 24 years old, you could enroll for a free education and training program through Job Corps! Learn technical skills, get certified and earn your high school diploma/HSE.
