CDL Training for Military-Connected Iowans
Indian Hills Community College has been awarded a Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator Safety Training (CMVOST) grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to expand access to commercial driver’s license (CDL) training for military-connected individuals in southcentral Iowa.
Through this grant, IHCC will provide tuition assistance to help eligible participants complete the college’s Class A CDL training program and prepare for careers in the transportation industry. The project supports FMCSA’s mission to improve roadway safety by expanding access to high-quality, safety-focused commercial motor vehicle operator training.
*Participants must meet program eligibility requirements related to age, driving history, safety standards, and career readiness.
What the Program Includes:
Eligible participants may receive:
- Tuition assistance for IHCC’s Class A CDL training program
- Safety-focused, hands-on instruction that meets federal training requirements
- Individualized guidance and referrals to available campus and community resources, as needed, to support successful program completion
- Job placement assistance and connections to regional transportation employers
IHCC has offered commercial driver training for more than 50 years and maintains strong partnerships with Iowa employers and the Iowa Department of Transportation.
