A Day in the Life

7:30 AM: Starting My Day

I begin my mornings at the Hills Café, either grabbing a quick breakfast sandwich, latte or energy drink to fuel up for the day. The café is conveniently located near the Academic Success Center, which I pass by on my way to class​.

8:00 AM: Classes and Learning

My classes start around this time Monday - Thursday. With small class sizes and approachable faculty, I feel supported as I work through my program. Today, I'm learning in the Advanced Technology Center, which has modern labs and classrooms that make studying here really engaging​.

10:00 AM: Visiting the Campus Store

One stop at the Campus Store, and I'm all set with a new Warriors water bottle and fresh IHCC swag to show off my school pride. I know I can always count on the Campus Store to have the latest gear, snacks and essentials I need.

12:00 PM: Lunch Break

At midday, I meet up with friends for lunch at one of the campus dining areas. It's a great time to relax and catch up. Afterward, I might wander over to the art gallery or spend some time with a group of friends in “The Pit”, a lounge area where you can always find students and staff to connect with.

1:30 PM: Study Session

I usually head to the Academic Success Center for some focused study time. Today, I’m stopping by the Math Lab for help on an assignment. The tutoring services here are amazing, and knowing there’s always support gives me peace of mind​.

3:00 PM: Mental Break

After studying, I like to get some fresh air. This campus has wonderful walking paths that allow you to enjoy the outdoors in any season. Today, my friends and I played a round of disc golf on the campus course. It’s a fantastic way to recharge! We can’t wait for the new Fitness Center to be built in 2025, which will be an amazing space for students and staff.

7:00 PM: Dinner and Unwinding

For dinner, I typically eat in the dining hall or prepare a meal in my dorm using the food pantry at Wally’s Market, a free resource available to all Indian Hills students. Tonight, my friends and I have decided to order from one of the restaurants in Ottumwa—options include everything from sushi, BBQ, Italian, pizza, and Mexican. We'll play rock, paper, scissors to make our final decision!

8:00 PM: Evening Activities

I’m attending a campus event after dining, which is a fun way to wrap up the day and connect with others. Our Student Life hosts a variety of events throughout the year including comedians, crafting, BINGO, mini golf, and the all-time favorite, Casino Night.

9:00 PM: Wrapping Up

Before bed, I wind down in my dorm. My residence hall is cozy and provides everything I need to relax and prepare for tomorrow. Last year I was in an apartment style with 3 additional roommates but this year I have my room to myself!  It’s been a full, rewarding day at Indian Hills​.
