The Academic Success Center, with locations on the Ottumwa and Centerville campuses, provides students with assistance via tutoring, skill-building courses,
and other services. Computer labs are also available, during business hours, on both
campuses.

Professional Tutor Assistance
The Math and Writing Labs are staffed with tutors for walk-in service and appointments.
For writing assistance, please ensure that the due date for your paper and/or essay
is at least 24 hours after the tutoring appointment to allow sufficient time for revision
and correction of the paper/essay.

professional tutors can help you establish strong habits and personalized strategies
that can enhance your learning and help you to balance the numerous demands of your

You can access NetTutor by clicking the link at the bottom of the blue navigation pane in your MyHILLS class.
If your instructor has not made that available, stop by or call the Success Center
front desk and we’ll give you a user name and password to use at www.nettutor.com
English Language Learning
Indian Hills Community College has a several credit-earning and free programs to improve
your English. It's a great choice if you’re new to working and living in an English-speaking
community. English Language Learners (or ELL) covers every level, from beginner to
advanced. Expert instructors help you boost your skills in reading, writing, and speaking.

Credit-Exchange Courses
This process allows students to "exchange" an existing course with a skill-building
course (described above). This is the last option for students who are failing a course,
and have no recourse but to exit the course, but wish to maintain their credit hours.
