In order to make your arrival to campus as easy as possible, we have provided some helpful information below. Please also refer to your acceptance packet for specific details and pickup dates.

Booking an Amtrak train to Ottumwa, Iowa:
If you choose to book a seat on an Amtrak train, the station in Ottumwa is conveniently located just a few miles from campus. Students can choose to fly into Chicago or Kansas City, then hop on an Amtrak train there. Please note that the Amtrak train does not depart from the airport in these two cities; instead the Amtrak train departs from Union Station in downtown Chicago and Union Station in downtown Kansas City. Before booking flights into Chicago or Kansas City, please visit amtrak.com for timetables, station information, and to purchase tickets. Be sure to allow ample time between your flight arrival and your Amtrak train departure to Ottumwa. If you choose to book a seat on Amtrak, plan to arrive on our scheduled Pickup Dates for your anticipated start term (please refer to your acceptance packet). An Indian Hills Community College representative will meet you at the Ottumwa Amtrak train station, as long as you notify us according to the information under “Arrival Information” below.
Booking a flight to Des Moines International Airport:
If you choose to book a flight to Iowa, please make flight arrangements so that your final destination is Des Moines International Airport in Des Moines, Iowa (Airport Code: DSM). The International Enrollment Services Office does not provide pickups at any other airport. Plan to arrive on our scheduled Pickup Dates for your anticipated start term (please refer to your acceptance email). An Indian Hills Community College representative will meet you in the waiting area of the airport, as long as you notify us according to the information under “Arrival Information” below.
Once you have booked your train/flight, email your itinerary to email@example.com, and be sure to include your date and time of arrival, the airline, and your flight number (if flying). Even if you plan to arrive without our transportation assistance to campus, we still need to know when you will be arriving. If this is the case, when you email us to report your arrival date and time, please be sure to alert us that you will not need transportation assistance.
