The average class size at Indian Hills is around 30 students.

How many students attend Indian Hills?

There are approximately 3,800 full- and part-time students who attend Indian Hills: 3,400 in Ottumwa and 400 in Centerville.

Is there an application fee?

There is no fee for an admission application.

Are there scholarships available?

The IHCC Foundation offers scholarships to IHCC students and alumnus Tom Arnold offers scholarships to two students each year as well. There is much more information on the Financial Aid pages of the web site.

What do Ottumwa and Centerville have to offer?

Ottumwa and Centerville are both located in the heart of southeast Iowa. The population of Ottumwa is approximately 25,000 and is the "hub" for shopping in southeast Iowa. The Quincy Place Mall houses such businesses as Herbergers (similar to Younkers), Maurices, Bath & Body Works, Foot Locker, JC Penney, and Goody's. There is also a Target, Super Wal-Mart, Kmart, and much more. Many of these stores make great part-time job opportunities available to college students. Ottumwa is also home to the new Cinema 8, an eight-screen movie theater, and The Beach, our local water park.

Centerville has a population of appoximately 8,000 people. With its historic square, Centerville offers several specialty stores for your shopping convenience. For those who love the outdoors, Lake Rathbun is located just 20 miles from Centerville and offers hunting, fishing, and other water-related recreational activities.

Will my credits transfer to a four-year college or university?

That depends upon your program of study. If you want to transfer to a four-year school, our academic counselors will work with you to help you get the classes you need.

What extracurricular activities are offered?

Indian Hills has lots of activities to keep students busy outside of class:

Intramurals, including basketball, volleyball, ping-pong, softball, flag football and more
Music and drama departments
The Student Senate sponsors dances, ski trips and many other activities on campus
There are many interest-specific student clubs on campus, too
