There are lots of reasons to take Arts & Sciences classes at Indian Hills.
Maybe you're pursuing a four-year bachelor's degree. You can take your first two years at Indian Hills and save a ton of money over the cost of tuition at a regents' institution or a private school. You'll earn an associate degree at IHCC and be able to transfer to many other schools without losing a credit hour. Our list of articulation agreements can help you plan.
Maybe you need just a few classes before heading off to work on that bachelor's degree. You don't have to earn an A.A. or A.S. here first. You can take a few classes here and then transfer to the college of your choice.
Some people need to take specific classes in preparation for a career. While others may want to complete a degree in Criminal Justice that can take them directly to the workforce.
And finally, some students may enroll in classes simply to increase their knowledge in a particular subject area.
Whatever you're looking for, we'll find a way to help you at Indian Hills.
The Arts & Sciences program is designed to prepare students for a variety of majors at the baccalaureate level. During the first two years of undergraduate study, most of the coursework consists of general education courses and courses common to many major. Therefore, many students prefer to begin their educational path with a very general or "undecided" major.
However, some of our students have very specific career goals. With that in mind, Indian Hills has created focus areas that include courses typically necessary for students wishing to pursue a specific major. These have been designed around the requirements of the Iowa regents universities and many baccalaureate institutions. These focus area course lists are recommendations only, and should not be considered a substitute for consulting with an academic counselor.
