Mission Statement of Indian Hills Community College
Indian Hills Community College, an institution of higher learning, is dedicated to excellence in educational opportunity, economic development, cultural understanding, and social enrichment. Student learning is the central, unifying purpose of the college.
Supporting this statement, we strive to be:
Accessible, comprehensive, community-centered, and responsive in planning, programming, funding, teaching, and administration

Committed to the spirit of providing a dynamic and timely response to the ever-changing needs of our business community and the populace of our small towns and rural areas.
From this, our specific goals include:
- Vocational/Technical - Providing career preparation in a wide variety of occupations utilizing related advanced in technology and leading to an Associate in Applied Science degree or a diploma
- Arts & Sciences - Offering transfer credits and general education leading to an Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, or Associate in Science/Career Option degree
- Student Services - Developing and promoting student-centered programs, resources, and services that continue to foster an atmosphere of success.
- General Education - Teaching a common base of knowledge that enables our students to think critically, communicate effectively, and create a foundation for lifelong learning
- Customized Learning - Providing comprehensive, non-traditional educational alternatives, including relicensure education programs, basic adult education programs, and high school equivalency programs
- Economic Development - Coordinating regional economic development through industrial training and retraining, small business development, educational equity initiatives, job training, and statewide initiatives
- Alternative Instructional Delivery - Serving our learners through traditional, distance, and asynchronous instructional methods designed to provide maximum flexibility
- Community Services - Supporting the communities of southeast Iowa through student and staff involvement in service learning and volunteer activities
- Diversity - Developing an understanding of other cultures and minorities through international and service learning initiatives in order to broaden our students' effectiveness in today's global society
- Cultural Activities - Featuring a community-based approach to the visual and performing arts, including musical and theatrical productions, art gallery exhibitions, arts festivals, and invited lecturers
