Student Spotlight: Eric Stoller
Hello. I'm Eric Stoller. I graduated from Indian Hills with an Associate of Arts degree with a focus in Education. I went on in my schooling, eventually completing a Master's degree in Education specializing in College Student Services Administration. I'm currently a higher education thought–leader, consultant, writer, and speaker, and frequently give keynotes on digital identity development. I am also a blogger for Inside Higher Ed Student Affairs and Technology. Indian Hills gave me a fundamental background in writing, the sciences, math, and the humanities that has propelled me to success in both my bachelor's and master's degrees. Varied experiences both in and out of the classroom made me a well–rounded scholar.
When I first arrived on campus I was very home sick. I happened to notice a flyer advertising that the Jazz Band was in need of a trombonist. I tried out for the band and was able to make lifelong friends with members of the band. I was a member of both the Jazz and Pep Bands. It seemed like I was always playing my trombone either in the auditorium or at Warrior basketball games. The band gave me a family and a home away from home that contributed to my success at Indian Hills.
Academically, the faculty support was superb. They challenged me to learn while supporting me when I needed it. My academic advisor was also a terrific mentor and friend. We've remained in contact with each other to this day. His guidance contributed greatly to my success as a student and as a member of the Indian Hills community. I wouldn't be who I am today if I had not had my two–years at Indian Hills Community College. It was a very influential time in my young life.
