Occupational Therapy Assistant
Occupational Therapy Assistants are licensed health care providers who work with, and under the supervision of occupational therapists, to administer treatments to patients/clients. Treatments include hands-on services to children and adults who are learning new ways to succeed in the activities of daily living. Employment opportunities are expected to increase dramatically and include hospitals, clinics, mental health clinics, school systems, home health agencies, and long term care centers.
Once accreditation of the program has been obtained from the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupataional Therapy Association, graduates will be eligible to take the national certification examination for occupational therapy assistants administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
