Focus Area: Mass Media/Journalism

The Mass Media/Journalism focus area will prepare you for a number of related majors at the baccalaureate level, including mass communication, journalism, broadcast journalism, and public relations. The curriculum of this area stresses basic written communication competency, as well as adherence to print and broadcast writing styles. In addition, you will learn about current media industry practices and media history. Employment opportunities exist in newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and online, as well as public relations and technical writing.
