Focus Area: Engineering
The engineering focus area provides a foundation for you if you are interested in engineering. You will learn to use and understand the facts, concepts, theories, and vocabulary of physics, develop analytic and problem–solving skills, and apply principles to real–world situations. After completing the recommended courses, you can transfer to a four–year school to continue working on a bachelor's degree in engineering and find employment in research, design, development, production, consulting, and technical sales. Opportunities are found in the government and industrial sector and include aerospace, chemical, computer, electrical, electronic, marine, mechanical, mining, and nuclear engineering.
Transfer Agreement with The University of Iowa
Upon the completion of the curriculum, students will be able to transfer to The University of Iowa as a second–semester sophomore. The IHCC Engineering program will prepare students to continue at Iowa in any of the following disciplines: biomedical engineering, biochemical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, industrial engineering, and mechanical engineering.
