Indian Hills Community College added men’s soccer to its list of intercollegiate sports in the fall of 2007. Soccer has become increasingly popular at the high school level in Iowa and offering this sport at IHCC gives talented players from across the state another option for continuing their education and soccer career.
Indian Hills plays its home soccer matches at the Walsh Soccer Complex in Ottumwa. Opponents for the Warriors include other community colleges from Iowa, Illinois, and Minnesota, as well as some junior varsity teams from four-year schools in Iowa.
Tryouts for the team are held in the spring and preseason practice begins in August. The regular season schedule usually starts in late August and the season runs through October, with the postseason regional, district, and national tournaments played in late October and early November.
The Indian Hills men’s soccer team showed considerable progress from its inaugural season to its second campaign and hopes to show the same progress in the 2009 season under coach Kirk Artist.
