Overview
The Indian Hills basketball program has enjoyed remarkable success over the past two decades. In that time, the Warriors have won 83 percent of their games and averaged 29 wins per season, winning 30 or more games in 10 different seasons.
The Warriors play their home games at the Hellyer Student Life Center on the college’s Ottumwa Campus and it’s hard to imagine anyone in the country has had a better home–court advantage than Indian Hills. The IHCC record at the Hellyer Center is 333–34 over the last 20 years, an incredible winning percentage of .907. Last year’s home record was 20–0, the eighth time the Warriors have gone an entire season without losing a home contest.
Under new head coach Barret Peery, the overall record in 2011–12 was 33–4 and Indian Hills enjoyed an unbeaten conference record, winning the regular season and postseason conference titles.
They won the one–game district tournament as well to qualify for the school’s ninth appearance in the NJCAA national tournament. The Warriors finished seventh at the national tourney, winning three of four games to improve their overall record at ‘Hutch’ to 23–11.
Indian Hills is 32–8 in conference games over the past seven years and has won at least a share of the conference regular season title in six of those seasons.
Coach Peery took over the head–coaching duties at IHCC after three years as an assistant coach at the University of Utah. His previous coaching experience also includes a three–year stint as head coach at the College of Southern Idaho.
