Overview
The Indian Hills basketball program has enjoyed remarkable success over the past two decades. Since the start of the 1989-90 season, the Warriors have won 83% of their games and averaged almost 29 wins per season, winning 30 or more games nine different seasons. Indian Hills is the only school to win three consecutive NJCAA Division I national championships, winning titles in 1997, ’98, and ’99.
The Warriors play their home games at the Hellyer Student Life Center on the Indian Hills Community College Ottumwa Campus and to say they have had a home court advantage there is a real understatement. Indian Hills has won nearly 91% of its home games in the past 15 seasons and has gone undefeated at home seven times in those 15 years.
The Warriors are 28–8 in conference games in the past six years and have won at least a share of the conference regular season titles in five of those six seasons.
They have made eight trips to the national tournament and have an overall record of 20–10 at Hutchinson.
Barret Peery assumed the head–coaching duties at Indian Hills prior to the 2011–12 season. He came to IHCC after three years as an assistant coach at the University of Utah. Peery's previous head–coaching experience came during a three–year stint at the College of Southern Idaho, a two–year school that he led to two national tourney appearances and a record of 85–19.
