You don’t have to travel as far as Spain or France to learn to speak these beautiful languages! Jump in head-first and immerse yourself into new cultures with the Spanish/French Focus Area at Indian Hills! Do you have an ear for languages? Studying in Spanish and/or French provides a foundation for students interested in continuing their education at a four-year college with a major or minor in these languages; and for most students, this Focus Area will fulfill the foreign language requirement. Our talented instructors will teach you to speak, read, and write so fluently you will be able to do it les doigts dans le nez,” or “con los ojos cerrados!”

  • Spanish is the 2nd largest native language in the world, it is the 2nd language used for international communication, and it is the 3rd most used language on the Internet.

  • Reading, writing, speaking, and listening in the chosen language
  • Comparison among languages, such as French vs. English
  • Comparison of cultures in other countries, such as Mexico and the United States
  • Familiarity with cultures and languages in travel and other experiences
  • Transferable foreign-language requirements
