Aviation ACT Program

ACT ProgramIndian Hills Community College has partnered with SkyWest Airlines to create an Airline Career Training Program that offers employment to Indian Hills students before they begin flight training. The ACT Program will provide you with a comprehensive learning experience and a defined path to employment. This is the first flight training program in the country able to make such an offer, making it one of the smartest ways to launch a career in aviation.

After passing Indian Hill's strict screening process, students will begin an all-inclusive airline training program with rigorous professional flight standards, career guidance, and concurrent online and face to face college courses. During your training, you will receive professional pilot mentorship and will develop leadership, professionalism, and crew management skills. With three days of flight training per week, You will become a flight instructor and complete the program within 21 months! At the conclusion of the training program, you will graduate with an Associate’s of Applied Science Degree in Aviation Pilot Training.

In addition, you will be certified with both a Commercial Rating and Flight Instructor Ratings (CFI and CFII). You will then enter into the SkyWest Cadet Program and a job will be waiting for you. Financial aid is available and veterans can utilize VA Benefits to cover up to 100% of the cost of this program.


Pilot Screening Process

In order to begin screening and be on your way to a career at SkyWest Airlines. Please follow these instructions.

Step 1: Complete the Pilot Screening Application
Step 2: Complete the Pilot Aptitude Assessment Exam

Step 2 Instructions:
Call or email Brian Hammack, Assistant Chief Flight Instructor to setup a time to visit the North Campus and complete you Pilot Aptitude assessment Exam. If your exam score falls within our requirements, the aviation department will call to setup an interview.


Study and fly at the same time! As you progress through ACT, you will be able to earn college credits toward your Associate of Applied Science Degree in Aviation Pilot Training. The online availability of courses allows you to attend around your flight schedule.


SkyWest Airlines partnered with Indian Hills to provide pre-training conditional offers of employment! Candidates who pass their screening and interviews will be offered placement in the ACT Program and given conditional offers of employment with SkyWest Airlines.
