Sports medicine is a rapidly growing field of healthcare and an increasingly popular Health Sciences Program. With the ever-growing emphasis on healthy, active lifestyles, human beings are involved in a dizzying array of physical activities — and they often get injured. Fortunately, sports medicine programs keep science at the forefront of injury prevention and treatment, and it may be the perfect place for you, too.
Whether your goal is to be an Athletic Trainer, Personal Trainer, Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant, Recreational Therapist or Orthopedist, get your start at Indian Hills Community College in Iowa. Graduates will be prepared to transfer to a 4-year college or university and pursue the Indian Hills Sports Medicine program of your choice or you can complete a Physical Therapist Assistant A.A.S. degree at Indian Hills.
What Will You Do in the Sports Medicine Program?
You’ll learn the basics of sports medicine through course work and practicum experiences, which take place in the athletic training rooms here at Indian Hills. You’ll be working with real athletes, alongside Certified Athletic Trainers, learning basic taping techniques and injury evaluations. You’ll have the opportunity to see an athlete through the entire process of injury-return to play. Our goal is to get you into the clinics and hospitals of our area sports medicine team which includes orthopedic surgeons, chiropractors, physical therapists, etc.
