Celebrity Night

Norm Parker, University of IowaEach year, Indian Hills hosts Celebrity Night (usually in the spring), which includes a celebrity guest speaker, dinner, and auction. The 30th Annual Celebrity Night is scheduled for March 10, 2011. The featured speaker will be Norm Parker, the defensive coordinator at the University of Iowa. He has been with the Iowa Hawkeye squad since 1999.

Following are some of the highlights of the Hawkeye defense under Parker’s leadership:

  • Played in eight bowl games since 2001; six of those in January bowl games
  • Won 70 games over the past eight seasons, including 42 Big Ten games
  • Ranked in the top 10 in the nation in rushing defense four times
  • Ranked in the top 10 in scoring defense in each of the past two seasons, and 12th in 2007

Memory Paths

In order to honor alumni and friends of the college, Indian Hills is creating Memory Paths on both the Ottumwa and Centerville campuses. The Ottumwa Campus Memory Path circles the pond behind the Hellyer Student Life Center, while the Centerville Campus Memory Path is near the recently renovated “Barn” or Student Union.

For a donation of $50, $100, or $150, a stone will be engraved with your name or the name of a loved one. The stone will be incorporated into a walkway on the campus of your choice. New stones will be installed twice each year, once in April, prior to graduation ceremonies, and once in September, prior to Homecoming. All proceeds from the Memory Path Project will provide scholarships for Indian Hills students through the IHCC Foundation.
