2017 IHCC Iron Chef Competition

Join us to watch as seven area High School's compete head to head in the 2017 IHCC Iron Chef Competition!

8:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.
Culinary Arts Studio, Arts & Sciences Building (below the Main Dining Hall)
Indian Hills Community College, Main Campus (Ottumwa)

 


Competition Agenda

Each high school will have 2 hours to complete 3 different courses, (appetizer, main course, and dessert) with an Asian or Latin theme. IHCC staff will have all teams draw numbers to determine the order in which they will begin. The first team will begin preparing their courses at 9AM, with another team joining in every 15 minutes until all teams have joined in by 10:30AM. (This will give each team exactly 2 hours and ensure that the judges are ready for them when they their time is up).

All teams will have completed their courses by 12:30PM.

8:00 AM - 9:00 AM Check-In and Teams will draw numbers to determine competition order.
9:00 AM Team 1 will begin preparing their courses.
9:15 AM Team 2 will begin preparing their courses.
9:30 AM Team 3 will begin preparing their courses.
9:45 AM Team 4 will begin preparing their courses.
10:00 AM Team 5 will begin preparing their courses.
10:15 AM Team 6 will begin preparing their courses.
10:30 AM Team 7 will begin preparing their courses.
11:05 AM Team 1 will present to the judges.
11:20 AM Team 2 will present to the judges.
11:35 AM Team 3 will present to the judges.
11:50 AM Team 4 will present to the judges.
12:05 PM Team 5 will present to the judges.
12:20 PM Team 6 will present to the judges.
12:35 PM Team 7 will present to the judges.

Guest Attendance:

Guests who would like to watch the competition are welcome to join us for coffee and danishes and are free to watch students work from the glass windows around the kitchen as well as listen to each of the teams presenting their courses to the judges.
