
The Iowa Actors' Workshop gives you a unique opportunity to hone your skills in all areas of the acting craft. If you're 16 years of age or older, come join us for this week-long workshop - you'll not only learn a lot about all aspects of acting and make a bunch of new friends, you can earn college credit, too!
Workshop participants will work on improving their basic acting skills, including
Workshop Schedule
Sunday: Dorm move-in (3-5 p.m.); Dinner (5-6 p.m.); Orientation session (6-8 p.m.)
Daily Activities:
A. Breakfast (8-9 a.m.)
B. Morning Session (9 a.m. - noon) - Full Group Activities
- Physical action and body awareness
- Vocal training and exercises
- Scene interpretation
- Character interpretation
- Expanding emotional range
- Improvisation
- Auditioning/professional presentation
C. Lunch (noon - 1 p.m.)
D. Afternoon Session (1:30 - 4:30 p.m.)
- Small group work
- Individual scene improvisation development
E. Dinner (5-6 p.m.)
F. Evening Session (6-9 p.m.)
- Arriving at material for final class
- Continuation of group activities
Saturday: Breakfast (8-9 a.m.); Final Activities (9-11 a.m.); Dorm Check-Out (11 a.m. - noon)
Registration & Cost
Cost of the workshop is $300, which includes your dorm room and all meals. College credit will cost an additional $297 for students from Iowa and $447 for out-of-state students.
