Nurse Aide
(Nursing Essentials I)

This program provides the student with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to function as a Nurse's Aide in a health care facility. To qualify for employment in a long-term care facility, students must meet the requirements of this 75-hour course. This course is comprised of 45 hours of lecture and 30 hours of supervised clinical experience in a long-term care facility. In addition to course requirements, the student must successfully complete the written and skills examinations mandated by the state. A certificate is awarded upon completion of these requirements. There are no prerequisites for this course, which meets the minimum requirements of the Iowa Department of Health, Inspections and Appeal Division.
