Medical Transcriptionist Program

Medical transcription requires knowledge of medical terminology, standards, documentation requirements, and organization of health records.

You'll receive experience in a health care agency and acquire entry-level skills for a career as a medical transcriptionist.

Program Features and Highlights

This is a three-term, 38.5-credit program. You'll earn a diploma when you complete the program.
The program generally takes nine months to complete. You can begin the program at the start of the Fall Term in August.
A "test-out" option is available for the Medical Terminology course.

Admission Requirements

A high school diploma or its equivalent
A completed admissions application to IHCC (you can do this online)
COMPASS, ASSET, ACT or SAT score

In addition, students in the Medical Transcription program will be required to have a Dependent Adult Abuse, Child Abuse and Criminal Background check prior to beginning the clinical/practicum portion of the program.
