Forestry Focus Area

This area of concentration provides a foundation for students interested in forestry. It is suitable if you're interested in transferring to a four-year institution in order to pursue a bachelor's degree or advanced degrees in forestry.

Since many undergraduate forestry programs at four-year institutions include field work and field classes at the beginning of the sophomore year, you will most likely study at IHCC for only one year before transferring.

Preparation for IHCC

You should have a strong background in mathematics, science, writing and reading skills. At least three years of high school mathematics (including advanced algebra) and high school science (including biology, chemistry and/or physics) are highly recommended.

If you're planning to transfer to a four-year institution you are strongly advised to familiarize yourself with the requirements of the forestry program at the college to which you plan to transfer and work with a counselor and the science faculty at IHCC to plan a program that meets those requirements. The specific forestry curriculum, including field studies, usually begins in the sophomore year.
