If you're planning a career in education you should take four years of high school English because a great deal of reading and writing are expected in both the academic training of teaching and in their professional careers.
A strong grounding in other core academic subjects such as math, science, and social studies is also necessary to successful academic preparation for an educational career.
Familiarity with computers is also becoming a necessity.
