Construction Technology is a dual-track program offering a four-term diploma and an eight-term Associate of Applied Science degree. It is offered only at the Centerville campus.
Students completing the one-year program will receive training and practical experience in safety, blueprint reading, framing, drywall installation and finishing, cabinet installation, trim and interior finish, basic stair building, window and dorr installation, insulation systems, and building materials. Opportunities for students graduating with a diploma include apprenticeships in the union and merit shop programs, maintenance departments, self-employment and work in various specialty trades.
The second year of the program focuses on estimating, residential wiring, heating and air conditioning design, plumbing, concrete and masonry installation, advanced framing and stair building, architectural CAD-drafting, and building science.
You will combine classroom instruction with lab assignments that will challenge you to make leadership decisions and accept leadership roles in the construction of IHCC building projects.
