Focus Area: Mathematics

MathematicsThe Mathematics focus area provides a foundation if you are interested in mathematics (as well as many other careers) and is suitable for transfer to a four–year institution to pursue a bachelor's degree or advanced degrees in mathematics, science, or business. A mathematics major is extremely versatile. An understanding of math is necessary for the study of many disciplines in science and business, including such fields as computer scientist, financial analyst, statistician, systems analyst, actuary, economist, laboratory supervisor, insurance salesman, secondary school teacher, bookkeeper, accountant, biostatistician, auditor, surveyor, air traffic controller, and tax consultant.
