The Rural Entrepreneurship and Leadership Institute (RELI) is dedicated to promoting a more prosperous, dynamic, and sustainable economy by stimulating and supporting private and public entrepreneurship and leadership development.
The Rural Entrepreneurship and Leadership Institute provides numerous opportunities for individuals from many walks of like to develop entrepreneurship and leadership skills. Indian Hills Community College offers the following entrepreneurship and leadership development opportunities.
Entrepreneurship
Indian Hills offers college credit courses, customized learning classes, camps, and specialized services that are beneficial to those interested in entrepreneurship and leadership development. Among the credit courses taught at IHCC are: Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurial Studies, Managing the Entrepreneurial Venture and Leadership Development. Additional courses are also offered that would be beneficial to entrepreneurship endeavors.
The college provides customized learning courses and workshops throughout the year that are geared to entrepreneurship. They include: Foundation in Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurial Financial Management, Legal Environment of Business, Digital Publication Design, Risk Management, Managing a Growing Business, E-Commerce, Human Resource Management, Negotiating, Presenting Your Idea, and Cash Flow Management.
Indian Hills also schedules workshops, seminars, and activities in conjunction with the University of Iowa’s John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center. Persons may also enroll in online courses that lead to a Certificate in Entrepreneurship.
The Small Business Development Center provides assistance to existing business owners, as well as those looking to start a business.
Youth Entrepreneur Camps are beneficial in developing the business and community leaders of tomorrow.
Leadership
Strong leaders are essential in maintaining a vital economy. In conjunction with Indian Hills Community College’s Rural Health Education Partnership, a Leadership Certificate Program is available for leaders in health care and health-related agencies and organizations. This program can also be tailored for organizations that are not related to health care. The college also offers classes in subjects such as building relationships and teams, understanding local and state government, grant writing, public speaking, fostering creativity, decision making and problem solving skills, and project management.

Many people can benefit from the services provided by Indian Hills Community College’s Rural Entrepreneurship and Leadership Institute. Prospective entrepreneurs, small business owners, not-for-profit organizations, civic organizations, and city and county government leaders are some of the people who could profit by utilizing the institute. Those who are preparing for public or business leadership positions, communities that want to develop their own leaders and instill an entrepreneurial spirit in their businesses and citizens, and school-age children should also explore the many opportunities offered through RELI.
