IowaWORKS

IowaWORKSIowaWORKS—Region 15 is located at the Indian Hills Community College North Campus, directly across from Job Corps. We provide integrated services to job seekers and employers. Integration is an effort to make the workforce system more demand–driven, in order to respond to the actual needs of local economies. Our workforce center adds value to the local economy it supports. The integration model is intended to bring a greater emphasis to the skills development component of the workforce and to better prepare workers for the changing world of work.

Each Iowan who becomes a member of an integrated workforce center will be given the opportunity to discover, develop, and utilize their skills to obtain employment. We are working with the community to develop a culture of lifelong learning and skill development. This is the ultimate service vision that IowaWORKS hopes to achieve.

The IowaWORKS Center offers many free workshops on a variety of topics, including resume writing, interview strategies, basic computer skills, and keyboarding, just to mention a few. We also offer National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC) and Interview Stream.

Skilled Iowa

Skilled Iowa is Governor Brandstad’s initiative to upskill Iowa’s workforce. Now more than ever, American businesses need a strong, skilled workforce to overcome today’s challenges. The Skilled Iowa initiative helps assess and increase the skill level in two ways.

  • National Career Readiness Certification
  • Skilled Iowa Internships

The National Career Readiness Certificate is issued by ACT. The NCRC provides an assessment of an employee’s skills that can be accepted nationwide. Individuals are tested on Applied Math, Reading for Information, and Locating Information. Skilled Iowa Internships allow employers to assess individuals in a work environment. Internships can last anywhere from 1 day to 3 weeks. A detailed training plan is developed with the employer.
