The Great Lakes Career Ready Internship Program at Indian Hills Community College will create paid internship experiences for students in Advanced Technology Degree Programs!
Indian Hills Community College has been awarded a two-year, $103,248 Career Ready Internship Grant from Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation & Affiliates. Indian Hills Community College is one of 16 two-year institutions across Iowa, Arkansas, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, and Wisconsin that received a combined $2.1 million to create over 1,000 internships for low-income students. Indian Hills will collaborate with businesses and non-profit organizations to provide the greatest number of current and future students with an educational opportunity they might otherwise not have!
We at Indian Hills understand that far too often, college students with financial need are unable to accept internships in their fields of study because they simply just need to earn a paycheck. However, by passing on these internship opportunities, students miss out on valuable, REAL-world experience that can be extremely helpful in building their understanding of certain types of positions and career paths! So, we are putting an end to it.
Due to the generosity of the Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation & Affiliates Grant, we are excited to announce that we will now be able to partner with area businesses to offer 46 NEW PAID Internships through May 2018; for students that demonstrate financial need, studying in an Advanced Technology Degree Programs. This will help increase graduaton and job placement rates, while also showcasing fresh, talented potential employees!

As a participant in the Great Lakes Career Ready Internship Grant, your organization would be able to convert an existing, unpaid internship into a paid internship and/or to create a new, paid internship for an Indian Hills student with financial need. This may help your organization gain visibility amongst Indian Hills students and faculty as well as add interns to your organization in an area that previously had no such opportunities!
