The "Divas Who Dish" competition is a event that helps support the Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra. The competition was made up of 3 categories, Appetizer, Main Entree, and Dessert. Tori Witthoft (Mt. Pleasant) entered the Dessert category and Balba Chiapa (Ottumwa) entered the Main Entree category. This was the first time both chefs entered the competition. There were several other entries in both of these categories. Both Tori and Balba are in their 4th term in the Culinary Arts Program.
Both students came up with their own recipes and spent time practicing and preparing for the event. Along with having to prepare the dish for the competition, they also had to prepare samples for 200 people. I was also one of the judges for the event this year. It was a honor to judge the "Divas Who Dish" competition and see two of our own students win in their categories.
