The Fine Arts Department of Indian Hills Community College offers several exciting
excursions throughout the year. In the past, we have explored Chicago, Minneapolis,
Memphis, and St. Louis, among others, visiting historical landmarks and museums, attending
shows, and more!

Fine Arts Trip: Chicago // March 22-24, 2019
We invite you to travel with us to Chicago, Illinois. We have several events planned for your enjoyment.
Our adventure starts with a relaxing visit to the Lincoln Park Zoo on Friday, followed by the comedy of Second City which is the training ground for Saturday Night Live. On Saturday, we will visit the Art Institute of Chicago, an encyclopedia art museum where we will see works by Van Gogh, Picasso, and Grant Wood's "American Gothic" and attend a Broadway muscial performance of "A Bronx Tale" at the Nederlander Theatre. On Sunday, a visit to the Windy City is not complete without a stop at Millennium Park to see the Cloud Gate Sculpture (aka: the Bean). We will then go to the Field Museum to see Dinosaur Sue and the Egyptian mummies.

Trip cost will be $621.00
Includes tickets for “A Bronx Tale” at Oriental Institute, The Art Institute of Chicago, Second City, The Lincoln Park Zoo, The Field Museum, bus transportation, two nights lodging (double occupancy) at the Travelodge Chicago, and 1-credit hour tuition.
Note: Extra charges apply for more than one hour of credit, out–of–state tuition, single–room occupancy, and other modifications.
One hour of required in-state credit will be included in the cost of the trip.
Out–of–State students must pay the difference between in-state and out–of–state credit.
In–State students opting for a second credit must pay for the additional credit.
Out–of–State students opting for a second credit must pay for the additional credit at the out-of-state credit rate.
Trip Outline and Options
Projected cost of this trip will be $621.00, and will include the following:
- One credit hour of IHCC (in–state) tuition
- Round-trip motor coach transportation, Ottumwa to Chicago
- Harrison Travelodge Hotel, double occupancy for two nights, breakfast included
- Ticket to A Bronx Tale at the Nederlander Theatre
- Ticket to the Art Institute of Chicago
- Ticket to the Second City
- Ticket to the Lincoln Park Zoo
- Admission to the Field Museum
- Navy Pier
- Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium
- Shopping on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile and Water Tower Place
One college credit (in–state tuition rate) in fine arts or cultural excursion is included in the cost of this trip. You may earn up to two college credits during this trip by completing the requirements/assignments provided by the professors. Each participant, who wishes to earn credit, must register for at least one credit at Indian Hills Community College for the Spring Term 2019:
- DRA–108: Drama Excursions (1 credit hour)
- DRA–109: Drama Excursions II (1 credit hour, prerequisite DRA–108)
- MUS–293: Music Excursions (1 credit hour)
- ART–103: Art Excursions I (1 credit hour)
- ART–104: Art Excursions II (1 credit hour, prerequisite ART–103)

Payment is due in full to the Indian Hills Business Office by 4:30 p.m., Thursday March 14, 2019.
As with any other course, tuition and fees will not be refunded after the official drop date for the term. For the Spring 2019 Term the last day to drop is Tuesday, March 05, 2019.
Online registration is on a first–come, first–served basis, beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
