Literature

Each year, Indian Hills hosts a number of poetry readings featuring students and faculty. We also publish a compilation of the best student works in the Hills Review: The Journal of Student Poetry.

Indian Hills also offers an academic focus area in English/Literature through the Arts and Sciences division.

Music

Indian Hills Community College hosts some of the region’s finest music ensembles including the IHCC Chorus, Camerata Singers, Bridge City Explosion, the Indian Hills Jazz Band, and the Warrior Basketball Band.

Theatre

Each year, Indian Hills offers a number of full–length theater productions, which are open to the public. Students at Indian Hills have the opportunity to perform in some of southeast Iowa’s finest theatrical productions, take a variety of theatre courses, and participate in art and drama excursions.

Visual Arts

Students interested in the visual arts have the opportunity to take a variety of graphics and art courses, participate in art and drama excursions, and have their work displayed in the Indian Hills Community College Art Gallery. The Art Gallery, open to the public, continually houses some of the finest art in southeast Iowa.

Fine Arts Trips

Each year, the Fine Arts Department hosts several trips to major cities. These Fine Arts Trips are designed to provide students with a wide variety of opportunites to experience the arts. Trips often include enjoying plays, musicals, museums, and more. Students may also earn college credit, while participating in a Fine Arts Trip, by registering and completing academic requirements and activities assigned by the instructors. See the left–menu at the top of this page for more information on a specific trip. Please be aware that Fine Arts Trips often fill up very quickly. So, students are encouraged to sign up as soon as registration opens.
