New Student Orientation

Beginning your Life. Changing. journey at Indian Hills means joining an engaging community of scholars, leaders, thinkers, and doers! Enrolling at Indian Hills provides you access to everything you need to accomplish your goals— top academic programs, faculty, and campus facilities, along with extracurricular experiences from which to choose.




After you have been accepted, your next steps in the admissions process will be to:



Step 1:           Change your password through WebAdvisor. Your student ID and password are included in your acceptance letter.  

Step 2:          Complete the online New Student Orientation through the MyHills Portal.

Step 3:          Schedule your academic advising appointment. The earlier you complete the online orientation, the more options you’ll have for course selection.

Step 1: NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION PASSWORD RESET (WebAdvisor)

  • Go to the IHCC website:  www.indianhills.edu
  • Click on Quick Links (on the left navigation menu) – Find WebAdvisor
  • Select LOG IN

    Your username should be first name_last name (example: joe_brown) all in lower case. Your password for the very first time is your 7-digit IHCC Student ID# followed by a capital “A” and a lowercase “z” (example: 0234567Az). 
  • Click the CHANGE PASSWORD to create your new password
    Your new password should be 6 – 9 characters in length, and it must include both numbers and letters, with at least 1 capital letter & 1 lowercase letter. Please enter a Password Hint, if you would like.
  • Once your new password has been created, LOG OUT and proceed to the MyHills Portal to complete New Student Orientation

    ** If you do not know your 7-digit Student ID#, go to the MAIN MENU and click on “What’s my Username?”  You will be asked to enter your social security number and your last name.  Once you have entered this information, click "Submit", and your username and Student ID# should appear.

Step 2: NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION COURSE COMPLETION (MyHills)

  • Go to the IHCC website:  www.indianhills.edu
  • Click on Quick Links (on the left hand side) – Find the MyHills Portal
  • Select LOG IN
  • Log in using the same password you created in WebAdvisor
  • Select your orientation within the MY COURSES section.

Step 3: SCHEDULE YOUR ACADEMIC ADVISING APPOINTMENT

  • After completion of your orientation, you will be directed to schedule your appointment with an academic advisor or program director.
  • Term registration dates begin on the following
    Spring 2017 – Tuesday, January 24, 2017
    Summer 2017 - Thursday, April 20, 2017 (ADVISING DATES WILL BE AVAILABLE MID-FEBRUARY)
    Fall 2017 - Thursday, April 20, 2017 (ADVISING DATES WILL BE AVAILABLE MID-FEBRUARY)
  • To schedule your advising appointment, select your Academic Division by clicking BOOK APPOINTMENT or BOOK CLASS from the navigation menu.

Advanced Technology Division (Ottumwa Campus):
Click BOOK CLASS to schedule your program director and advising appointment.

Arts and Science Division (Ottumwa Campus):
Click BOOK APPOINTMENT to schedule your advising appointment.

Centerville Campus:

Click BOOK APPOINTMENT to schedule your advising appointment.

Health Science Division
(Ottumwa Campus):
Click BOOK CLASS to schedule your program director and advising appointment.
