Question:

Can I complete the program online?

Answer:

All courses are taught online. DTM courses are offered exclusively online. General Education courses are offered in both online and face-to-face formats at IHCC. The 150-hour field experience completed in Term 4 will be completed at an assigned hospital, long term care facility, or other facility.

Question:

Can I work while completing this program?

Answer:

Students can work while completing this program. However, your field experience schedule will be set based on the dietitian’s schedule at your assigned facility. You will be required to complete all 150 hours during the 12-week term, which may require modification of your work schedule.

Question:

What if I already know a dietitian I’d like to work with?

Answer:

Students are encouraged to select their own preceptors. If you have a relationship with a dietitian who is willing to act as a preceptor, program faculty will work with that dietitian to meet at all field experience requirements.

Question:

What if I want to go on to be a Registered Dietitian, or enter a 4-year program?

Answer:

Great idea! We have a transfer plan built with Iowa State University, and with a few additional courses, you can apply to their Dietetics program after you complete your 2-year A.A.S. with us. Interested in Health Care Administration or Public Health? We also have transfer opportunities with Mercy College of Health Sciences programs!
