Why is English/Literature a required class for other majors? 

Answer:

No matter what vocation or career you may desire, skills in writing and speaking are always going to be in demand. Further, these skills and the skills involved in appreciation, analysis, and research help define you as an educated human no matter what specific career you may have in mind.

 

Question:

Besides teaching, what careers are open to English majors?

Answer:

Actually, many different fields are looking for the skills involved in receiving an English major, such as law, government, public relations, research, journalism, editing, or technical writing for private businesses.

 

Question:

I’m going to have my own secretary, so why do I need to know how to write?

Answer:

Before you get to the place of having your own secretary, you are going to be evaluated continually on your writing and speaking skills. Develop them now!
