Question:

Will the business courses from Indian Hills transfer to a 4-year university?

Answer:

Your A.A. degree will transfer. Each 4-year institution has varying requirements for business core courses. You should contact the business program coordinator at the university(ies) you are thinking of transferring to as early as possible to ensure you are making good choices in scheduling your courses.

Question:

Is it a good idea to take business courses even if I change to a different major?

Answer:

Yes. You will use the concepts learned in business throughout your life, no matter what career you end up in. An understanding of how the functions of a business work together will make you a more valued employee. A basic knowledge of business will also be beneficial to you personally as a consumer.

Question:

Will I need certifications or licensures in addition to a business degree?

Answer:

It depends on the specific field. Some careers in Accounting, such as CPA, will require a license. Human Resource Management often encourages certification from the Society of Human Resource Managers. It is a good idea to research the specific field you are interested in to discover the unique requirements.
